Rhythm Menagerie is an exciting reproducible resource that features fun activities to explore new rhythmic concepts. Rhythm Menagerie is much more than just a set of your typical clapping exercises! Each unit showcases a unique animal and often incorporates some of the fun antics of animals like the crazy looking Tarsier, the beautiful Wingtipped Nightjar, the Jerboa Jumping Mouse, the Javan Flying Frog and much more!

There are 8 units in Book 1 (92 pages in all) and each unit includes 11 pages of activities for the new rhythm concept. Each unit includes 1-handed rhythms, 2-handed rhythms, fun with sounds rhythms, and a beautiful award certificate.

1 Practice Theory Test
Pre-Level 1 concepts

If you purchased the practice Theory Tests before January 1, 2011, you may want to add Level A for your beginning students. This level includes pre-staff concepts, basic rhythms, keyboard steps/skips, direction of notes, basic terms, etc. Use this for your students not yet ready to be tested at Level 1. Level A is not tested by Music Progressions or Musicianship Examinations.
DO NOT ORDER this test if you have ordered the full set of practice theory tests as it is included in that set of tests!

Students can fish for these fun flashcards with a fishing pole made from a pole, string and magnet. Students must correctly identify the cards that are caught. Students can earn points for their team by correctly identifying the flashcards. Young students love this great carnival game!

This game is excellent for beginning, elementary, and early intermediate students. Stinky Sox cards are come in 2 levels, divided into 4 categories:

  To play, place the Stinky Sox cards in an old, dirty looking sock. Students sit in a circle and pass around sock while listening to music. When the music stops playing, the student with the sock pulls out a card and follows the instructions.
  
  These cards come as a PDF file of 6 pages with 18 cards per page and are divided into primary and secondary levels. Instructions are included. This game is excellent for elementary, intermediate, and advanced students of all ages.

To play, divide players into 2 teams and sit in a large circle alternating team members. The first player is given a stack of cards and has 1 minute to describe as many of the words on the cards so that their team members are able to guess the correct word. The player to the right of the student (on the opposite team) should watch to make sure the student does not use any form of the word in their descriptions. After 1 minute, points are calculated and the next student in the circle (on the opposite team) gets a turn. The game is over when a given time period has elapsed or everyone has had a turn to “Affirm-a-term.”
