I’m so excited to tell you about my new piece, just in time for your fall programs! It’s called Scatterbrained Scarecrow and it’s a Level 3 piece with lots of fun rhythms, staccatos, and hand crossings. The most difficult rhythms are only eighth note pairs! Here’s what Hal Leonard says about the piece:
This scarecrow ode is a little scatterbrained, with its frequent cross-overs and 4/4 and 3/4 meters! Kids will love the keyboard choreography and “crazy energy” of this new gem from Wendy Stevens.

I just bought this piece yesterday. I’m so excited to get it. You can bet that one of my students will be playing it at my Halloween Festival this year! ;0)

Wendy, I’m so thrilled to see another piece! “Twister” is a studio favorite so I know this new one will drum up some more excitement! It’s going on my list of purchases for the fall!

This is the 1st year my kids will be playing in a Halloween Recial at a local mall. They’re really excited & I would love to have this piece to add to my repetoire. I love your energy and creative edge Wendy! Shows in everything you do!
I can think of a few “scatterbrained” students–and some who are just plain imaginative–who would find this piece very appealing! I don’t usually hold a fall recital but had already been considering one for this year. This piece gives me more incentive to go ahead with it.

Very cool! My studio doesn’t actually have a fall recital, but we do have a winter recital. This fall I plan on doing some group lessons so that my students can get some extra performance practice in! (Sharing this via my Facebook studio page!)

What a fun piece… it’s nice to be able to have “closer look” at it! Because I keep a small studio w/ many students within the same families, for one fall recital I was able to hold an informal Backyard Potluck BBQ at my home. It was nice to have a less formal setting and get to socialize a bit more than normal.

Thank you for writing a new Halloween piece. I get tired of pulling out the old ones year after year. The switch to 3/4 time on the first page will indeed surprise everyone. I imagine it will be my students’ first introduction to a time change within a piece. It was good to meet you at NCKP. Thanks for arranging to do that.

Last year, our local MTA decided to “officially” make our fall Student Recital a dress-up event. It seems like so many parents these days don’t like their kids doing “Halloween music”, so I’m always happy to find a piece that has a “fall flavor” … but isn’t about ghosts, spiders, or skeletons. They could play this, dress up as a scarecrow, and fit right into our recital! yay!

What a cute piece, Wendy! I’m eager to see what comes next after the last measure we can view which is in 3/4, not 4/4. I like to use fall/Halloween music with my students as they enjoy the change of mood which is exciting even to older students.

We like to do a Halloween recital. The kids love to dress up and play spooky songs! This would be a cute little solo that I know would be perfect for one of my kids!
