Holiday Group Lesson Plan – Item #3 Every Party Needs This!

We’ve covered the first two activities (games) for your holiday group lesson or music class in previous posts. Be sure to take a moment to download your Icebreaker Game and Holiday Music Game!

As you know, I’m helping you plan your holiday party and this is the 3rd out of 4 posts. I hope this post has an interesting perspective on food for your holiday party!

Holiday Piano & Music Class – Item #3 – Food

After the fun holiday ice breaker and Name That Holiday Tune Game, you may want to go straight to activity #4, the Holiday Edition of Rhythm Cup Explorations! As a matter of fact, Holiday Rhythm Cup Explorations is so fun that you might want to play it for the whole 45 or 60 minutes!

At some point, most holiday parties include food, so I hope this video gives you a personal perspective on the stress of food preparation! I hope you’ll watch all 2.5 minutes because there’s a personal story (that might be a help to you) and a delicious, super easy recipe at the end that you don’t want to miss!

IMPORTANT:

Rhythm Cup Explorations Holiday EditionIt’s past November 19th now, so if you weren’t on the newsletter mailing list, you might have missed out on the big sale. Just be sure to sign up so you don’t miss out next time. But don’t worry, Rhythm Cup Explorations – Holiday Edition is still a fantastically great price because you can use it year after year after year and make as many copies for your personal studio as you need!

  1. Wendy,

Thank you for allowing us to not stress over food or little things, but enjoy teaching piano/voice and watching all that fun interaction at Group Piano Parties. It’s just what I needed to hear!

I’m hoping to use rhythm menagerie in a cup format if possible. I love the rhythmic challenges but haven’t gotten the kids on that yet. Also, how did you manage the 60 piece challenge? Love your ideas for realistic goals and competitions!

  2. Hi Mary!

It’s always great to hear from you. I’m glad you enjoyed that little message. I knew I was supposed to say it but wasn’t sure who might benefit from it. I just know it’s helped me.

You might be able to adapt Menagerie to use with cups. To me, it’s just easier to get the one with the cup markings already in there. They are specifically designed to be easy to use with cup tapping…some maneuvers are difficult with certain rhythms, so we weeded out the difficult things as I was testing. Anyway, you are always welcome to be creative with Menagerie, but if you want it done for you, you know where to find it!

We only do a 30 piece challenge around here! Did I say something about 60 pieces? If so, I misspoke. Let me know and I’ll correct it! All the details are on the blog. I can point you where if you need it. Just let me know!

    Thanks for writing!

    Wendy
