Seriously, let’s just stop doing all those boring rhythm drills with our students, okay? Why do them, when you can have as much fun as this student and I had making this video! Take Any RM2 Page and Challenge Us!

So here’s the 3rd rhythm challenge from one of the “rhythm maneuvers” in the Rhythm Manipulations book (click the link to see LOTS of samples and learn more). All you have to do is watch it, practice with your  RM2 book, and beat this student’s metronome speed. You can upload your video to YouTube (or have your student do it…they know how!) then send me a link and we’re on in a friendly and fun competition! I’ll show my student and we’ll see if we can do it faster but with the same accuracy! [And I promise…I have very normal students! They have to work hard to get their rhythms right.]

You’ve heard me say it before, but competition is really motivating to Jr. High and High School students, so don’t underestimate their interest in this. You don’t have to make your video fancy. Use your student’s smartphone and have them upload it to YouTube! Here’s the latest challenge. You can see the first two challenges below that.

I also have some younger students who are just starting the book that would also love to be challenged, so don’t forget that you can send me ANY video of your students performing one of the pages with the metronome and we’ll take you on in good fun!
